Saltwater Aquarium News
11/16/06 Refugium Completed
8/16/06 Move from Lowell, MA to Tallahassee, FL Completed
Welcome to my saltwater website. Here you will find information about my tank. Please visit the tank evolution page for a trip through the past and find out how I made it to this point. This page has gone through a lot of tough times where I didn't update it at all. I have always had a saltwater tank since I started this page. Sorry for the lack of updates but I intend on doing many more updates so please stay tuned. I have successfully bred and raised tomato clownfish and my current project to to frag more corals. I recently moved to Tallahassee, FL from Lowell, MA and I was forced to downsize a little. I went from a 75 gallon tank + 20 gallon quarantine tank to a 65 gallon tank with a 20 gallon refugium plumbed into it. My clownfish are still laying eggs but I am unable to raise them due to the lack of space that comes with living in an apartment. I keep all my information about my tanks recorded in an extensive access database. This will help me easily keep the database updated with more information that you may be interested in. I plan to be adding more videos and pictures soon. I also may setup a live webcam in the future. Thank you for visiting and please enjoy my website.

Saltwater Aquarium Tips
Thinking about starting a saltwater aquarium? Do you currently have a freshwater aquarium? If you do not I don't recommend you even think about trying a saltwater aquarium until you have at least had a freshwater aquarium for several months. Once you master freshwater you can think about starting a saltwater tank. Saltwater is similar to freshwater at first. Some of the recommendations for saltwater is to use the highest quality freshwater filters. You should invest in a protein skimmer also. Its best to start with just fish and then slowly create a reef tank if that is what you want. Live sand and live rock can help speed your cycle time of your new tank. I recommend adding some starter bacteria and check the water parameters often. The very earliest you can get fish is after one week. No more than 2 fish to start. I recommend starting with damsels of different colors but keep in mind that damsels can be aggressive to any other new comers although this has not been my experience. After a few more weeks you can begin to add more hardy fish like clownfish etc. Once the tank has been running for a few months then you can try your luck at the harder to keep specimens. You should have a small quarantine tank if you have a reef tank and isolate new fish for about 3-4 weeks to make sure ick does not get into your system. All the quarantine tank needs to be is a 20 gallon tank with an emperor filter, heater and appropriate decorations. Enjoy your saltwater tank.
